WJOU’s Second Annual Book Drive

Did you know that only 22 percent of children in Alabama are at or above the benchmark in the area of reading?
With the help of the Oakwood community, we were able to give almost 1,000 books to Ridgecrest Elementary School last year for the holidays. This year, our goal is to collect 2,000 books to have even more students in grades kindergarten thru 6 th .
We will be giving each student at Huntsville’s Sonnie Hereford Elementary School and Ridgecrest Elementary School a new or gently used book and the teachers will receive books for their classroom libraries.
You can drop your book donations off at the WJOU studios in Huntsville, at 4920 University Square, Suite J, until Friday, December 13th. Remember — Reading is the gift that keeps giving!!!
