This year Oakwood Live! welcomes special guest speaker, the dynamic, Pastor Andrea Trusty-King and musical guest Samantha Howard. Dr. Trusty King is an Oakwood alum, pastor of the 16th Street Church in Southern California, activist and author. She is married to an Oakwood alum Dr. Kurt King and they have two beautiful children. Ms. Howard is also an Oakwoodite that has shared the stage with artist such as Jonathan McReynolds, Hezekiah Walker, Anita Wilson and J.J. Hairston. As a singer and songwriter Howard is dedicated to bringing positive change to the lives of God’s people.
This Fall, the Oakwood University campus will be energized by hundreds of high school students from October 10 to 13, groups travel by plane, car, van, or bus to Xperience Oakwood during Oakwood Live!Prospective students come from all over the United States and Canada to learn everything they can about life at Oakwood. Throughout the weekend, visiting students are immersed in the academic culture and day-to-day life of an Oakwood student, and are invite to join the mass choir and perform in the concert featuring Oakwood University’s choirs. As a Christian university, dedicated to the spiritual enrichment of all students a full day of spiritual enrichment is planned for Sabbath, October 12, including a sermon offered by University President, Dr. Leslie Pollard, at the Oakwood University Church. Saturday night will feature a variety of activities including several carnival-style attractions, athletic events and roller skating.
