The Honorable Kay Ivey, Governor of the State of Alabama, has appointed Octavio Ramirez, Ph.D., LICSW, PIP, Chair and Professor of Social Work at Oakwood University, to serve on the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners for a period of three years. In this role, representing the Fifth Congressional District, he will be responsible for regulating social work practice in Alabama. James Mbyirukira, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences, described this appointment as a “great honor for the school.”
