Contributions from alumni, employees, students, and friends of the university helped make the one-day effort, called “Giving Tuesday,” success. “We are grateful for the ongoing support of our Oakwood community, here on campus, in the Huntsville area and all over the world. With full hearts, we simply want to say — thank you!,” stated executive director of Advancement, Cheri Wilson. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 by the 92nd Street YMCA in New York City in partnership with the United Nations Foundation and launched a global movement of giving. Wilson shared that Oakwood joined the #givingtuesday movement, “to give alumni and friends another opportunity to support the mission of Oakwood University of transforming students’ lives for service now and for eternity.”
