In partnership with CareerLIFE in Birmingham, Alabama, Oakwood University’s Career Connections Center planned and executed a week of activities, entitled CareerLIFE Week, October 8-12. Things were non-stop starting on Monday with the official launch of the Career Connections Center, a workshop on personal branding, and a business couture fashion show. Other activities throughout the week included workshops on goal setting, effective and professional use of social media, networking, resume review, and interviewing.
Other Career Connections Center activities this month include an interdisciplinary career fair, in partnership with the Office of Regional Conference Ministries, on October 24. This event is designed for those who are interested in working for the Seventh-day Adventist Church — as accountants or auditors, IT technicians, educators, and pastors.
The next day, October 25, a campus-wide Career Fair is planned, where students from all departments can explore career options with employers from industries, private companies, as well as local, state and federal government.
