An Oakwood Matriarch Sleeps…

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Helen Miller Kanion, who was believed to be one of the oldest alumna of Oakwood Junior College. She passed away on November 5, 2018, at the age of 103.
To honor her love of Oakwood University and Christian education, and her commitment to a life of service to others through a career in healthcare, the Helen Miller Kanion Scholarship was established in 2013 at Oakwood University.
The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, at the Linwood Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be sent to the scholarship at Oakwood University:
